Taylor Swift obtains three-year restraining order

Taylor Swift has obtained a three-year restraining order against a stalker who vowed to kill 'any man' who came between them.

A judge has ordered that Timothy Sweet, who allegedly believes that he and Taylor are married, stay 100 yards away from the singer for the next three years, reports TMZ.  Sweet is also barred from going near Swift's parents, Scott and Andrea. The 24-year-old country star secured a temporary restraining order against Sweet earlier this month.

The Love Story star was granted the application against Timothy Sweet after she told a Los Angeles court she was in fear of her own and her family's safety. In court documents, Swift claimed he had sent her a barrage of terrifying emails, letters and social media posts, with one even threatening the life of US Secretary Of State John Kerry.

According to the application submitted at Los Angeles Superior Court, Sweet has been harassing her since 2011. And the 33-year-old allegedly sent a series of chilling messages, which included: 'If anyone in Taylor Swift's family gets killed, it is not my fault. 'My wife, Taylor Swift (Sweet) and I live in Beverly Hills.  I am in love with her.  In conclusion, we treat each other with dignity and respect.  I will carry a gun to protect her the rest of my life.'

But perhaps the most outlandish message he sent revealed he threatened the life of one of America's most powerful politicians. Sweet is alleged to have wrote: 'Dearest Taylor, I'll kill any man who gets in the way of our marriage.  Message to John Kerry, Secretary of State.  Message from YOUR Presidential Candidate." Taylor is just the latest in a long line of stars forced to seek protection from the courts due to an alleged stalker. The likes of Halle Berry, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Pamela Anderson are just some of those affected by the problem.
