Mokokchung commemorated Teacher’s Day along with rest of India at Town Hall, organized by Ao Students’ Conference. Giving homage to the nation builders, the chief guest of the occasion, Merentoshi R Jamir, Advisor to Chief Minister of Nagaland stated, “What they (students) will become tomorrow is what you (teachers) do today.” He underlined that becoming a teacher should not be for employment sake and cautioned that whosoever decides to work as a teacher must be ready to sacrifice everything for their students.
He remarked that teachers are the best stakeholder in nurturing younger generation with a change in attitude and mindset to face different challenges and creating safer environment. Thus, he opined that corruption free society must be addressed with change of mindset and asked the teachers to harness the power of giving positive criticism in molding responsible citizens.
Director of Higher Education, I Alempokba speaking during the function as guest of honour stated that teacher’s award presentation system must be evolved to a higher spectra with more scientific and rational evaluation system. During the function, a book title “Kishi Tezülen (Off the doorway)” written by T. Senka Ao, former Editor of Ao Milen was also released.
The program was attended by Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner and other officials and civil societies led by Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, MTLT.
