Kohima, October 6 (MExN): A one-day Community Awareness and Teachers’ Orientation Programme was held at GMS Chedema on October 5, focusing on mental health awareness and strengthening teachers’ professional competence.
The programme was organised by the State Council of Educational Training (SCTE), Kohima, under its Village Adoption Programme, on the theme, “Promoting Mental Well-being in the Community and Strengthening Professional Competence among Teachers.”
Dr Viketuolie Pienyu, retired Senior Medical Officer of the State Mental Health Institute, delivered a special talk on mental health awareness. The session highlighted the importance of mental well-being and community awareness and included an interactive discussion.
This was followed by orientation sessions led by Dr Runi Nakro, Vice Principal, SCTE-K, and faculty members from Science, Mathematics, English and Social Science. The sessions focused on strengthening teachers’ professional competence, classroom practices and teaching and learning processes.
