SDPO Mokokchung, Impung Chang speaking at the National School Safety Programme for teachers in Mokokchung.

Mokokchung, April 16 (MExN): A three day training on National School Safety Programme for teachers is underway at Mokokchung where teachers from different schools under Mokokchung are being trained on disaster management skills at Town Hall Mokokchung. Formally kicking off the programme, the Sub Divisional Police Office of Mokokchung, L Impung Chang pointed out that in developing countries like India the school buildings are not made of quality materials and therefore teachers have a much bigger role in assuring the safety of the students in the schools.
He also asked the teachers to be role models in the society and urged them to understand the children since most of the students come from different family backgrounds. Saying that he was a teacher before he became a police officer, Impung Chang said that teaching is not just a profession but a service to the public and therefore the teachers should give their best to the students for the betterment of the society.
The National School Safety Programme is being sponsored under a central scheme and this is the first phase of the programme. The second and third phase will be organized at Mangkolemba and Changtongya sub-divisions in the months to come.
