The team management of Telongjem FC said that a 13-member contingent of the club comprising of 10 players will set out for Delhi on November 12.  Telongjem FC coach Tiakumzuk expressed appreciation to Nagaland Football Association (NFA) for organizing the Nagaland Futsal Championship 2021 and added that the tournament has opened the opportunity for the club to compete at the national level. “As this is a first of its kind outing for the club, we have been receiving guidance and support from NFA and MDFA,” the coach said.

Telongjem FC management also thanked NFA for registering their players in the AIFF Centralized Registration System that is used to administer and monitor all domestic transfers of professional and amateur players in India. It was also mentioned that the venue for the national tournament was initially set to be held at Shillong but was shifted to Delhi.

“We need tremendous resources to participate in a tournament like this. Except for a nominal support from AIFF, the whole tournament expenses have been entrusted with the club,” Tiakumzuk said. “It is very difficult to take a football team to the capital.

Therefore, we have sent requests to the government of Nagaland to support us,” he added. “We request the government to extend every possible support which will help in making this participation a successful one and this will also send a sign of encouragement to athletes and sporting clubs in Nagaland,” the coach reasoned.
