Ten UGs lay down arms before IGAR (South)

DIMAPUR, MAY 26 (MExN): Ten hardcore UG cadres of various banned outfits laid down arms before Major General CA Krishnan, AVSM,IGAR(South) and ADGP Mr Y Zathang,IPS in a simple surrender ceremony held at the HQIGAR (S), Mantripukhri on 26 May 2011. This was informed in a press note from PRO IGAR South.
The ten undergrounds who surrendered with arms and ammunitions include one each from the banned outfits UNLF,PLA, PREPAK(S),KCP(S) and KCP(MTF) and five cadres from UNPC. They are No.2229 SS Pvt Ningthoukhongjam Ibotomba @ Konthou,18 yrs, s/o N Ranjit, r/o Kakching Chumlang (UNLF), No.2791 SS Sgt Thangboi @ Roben @ Timothy,27 yrs, s/o Hemkhai, S/o Hamkhai r/o Tuibong, CC Pur (PLA),SS Pvt Sumarjit Metei @ Apike,r/o Kutoujam, Imphal East (PREPAK-S), No.362 SS L/CPL  Ningthemo @ Inao Khomjinba,23 yrs, s/o S Lukhao Singh, r/o Wangoo Mamang Leikai, (KCP-S), SS Pvt Angom Nanao @ Pishak,s/o Late Ibocha, r/o Kanglatombi,Sekmai, (KCP-MTF) and No.076 SS Cpl BL Arjun @ Sachingba,26 yrs, BL Lungkulinang, r/o New Kabui Khullen, No. SS Cpl B L Sangak @ Sachui, s/o BL Kutuang, r/o Oktean, Noney, SS Pvt Samphangni @ Achan, s/o Hopson, r/o Lamlong, SS Pvt Ningreisem @ Thangrei, s/o Nagining Khul, r/o Thingsong, Senapati, SS Pvt Wistom @ Sauthang, s/o Ningchung, r/o Leihaviram, Senapati  of UNPC. 04 x AK-rifles with magazines, 01 x M 16 rifle with magazines, 01 x M 22 rifle with magazines, 01x Lathod, 02x 9mm pistols with magazines  and 01x Kenwood radio set along with large amount of ammunition  were handed over by the surrenderees  during the ceremony.
        Speaking at the surrender ceremony, state ADGP Mr Y Zanthang welcomed the   youths to the mainstream of the civil society. The peaceful surrender of these cadres with arms would definitely be a guiding beacon for militants not in Suspension of Operation with the government, to follow the rest paving way for peace and harmony in the state.
The ADGP also assured all facilities which can be provided by the state government under the state’s existing surrender policy to the surrendered undergrounds. Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen CA Krishnan, AVSM, IGAR (South) mentioned  that more and more misled youth are being encouraged to abjure violence, lay down arms and join the main stream. He also said that the misled youth who lay down arms require support from all sections of the  society to reintegrate with the main stream.
