Peren, January 17 (MExN): Tening Village Baptist Phumling under Peren district commemorated its Centenary of Christianity (1925-2025) with ceremonies and reflection under the theme ‘Christ Our Liberty’ on January 15 and 16.
As per a DIPR report, the celebration commenced on January 15 with flag hoisting by President Liangmai Baptist Aruang (LBA) Nagaland, Amos Zeliang and dedication of centenary jubilee hall by Pastor of Tening Town Baptist Church, Rev Kamwang Rentta.
The Planning Committee of Centenary Jubilee acknowledged the pioneers who sowed the seeds of God's word in Tening Village despite the adverse environment prevailing during those days.
The speaker, Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary, Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) congratulated the leadership of Tening Village Baptist Church under Liangmai Baptist Association for successfully celebrating the 100 years of Christianity.
Keyho encouraged the gathering to deepen their connection with God and receive Jubilee blessings through the celebration. This celebration is a celebration of God's own story of love and said we were once in our own world of worshiping the creatures but God has brought deliverance and set us free and found us for his good workmanships.
Keyho said that God is a faithful God and we have every reason to celebrate the event, and wish the in-laws of Tening Village to be a mature mother even if they marry other tribes. He encouraged them to be a mother of Centenary with a vision to bring up their children in God's ways.
Rev Dr Alungbo Newmai, Executive Secretary, LNBA-M also spoke at the occasion.
On the second day, the dedication of the monolith was led by Pastor Tening Village Baptist Phumling, Rev Ramriwang and the unveiling was done by NBCC, President Rev Dr Mar Pongener.
The celebration began with invocation by Executive Secretary, Kuki Baptist Association, Rev David, while Rev Ramriwang ushered an act of appreciations to all the women who are married out of the village for their unwavering support and love towards their mother church.
The special melody was presented by CED Choir, Tesen Choir, Women Group and solo by Wikedon and guest artist, Liwang. Rtd Director, Dr Denis Hangsing also spoke on behalf of the family who was first baptised in the village.
It may be recalled that the Christianity in Tening Village first started on March 31, 1925 when Rev Tongjangul Ngulpu Hangsing introduced the word of God by baptizing Lt Tasibo son of Lt Ramu; Lt Phichai s/o Lt Dalakbo; Lt Ramtungbo S/o Lt Hudethiubo, and Lt Kaithiule D/o of Nzuahambo.
Tening Village Baptist Church planning Committee also acknowledged Pastor Wisung, the first Pastor of Tening Village, Rev Huzubo, K Lailu and Rev Ramriwang who served from 1925 till date respectively.
The centennial Jubilee concluded with Licensed Development Secretary LBA, NK Joseph.
