‘Tenyimi Chitebu’ traditional waistcoat dedicated

Dimapur, April 3 (MExN): A dedicatory prayer programme for release of Tenyimi Chitebu (traditional waistcoat) was held at Tenyimi complex, Dimapur on April 3. 

Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD), President Vekhosayi Nyekha officially dedicated the waistcoat and paid homage to the pioneer Late Madam Khremoü Legise, former president TWUD and the present Tenyimi Women Union Dimapur (TWUD) for their immense contributions towards the creation of the Tenyimi waistcoat.

He shared hope that through the use of the waistcoat, theTenyimi Unity will be strengthened and to wear the same with pride of our historical roots, stated a press release received here. 

Kerei Pfukha, Vice President, TWUD gave a brief narration about the significance of the Tenyimi Chitebu. She said that “The tree on the back of the waistcoat symbolises the historical tree ‘Chithebu’ from where the Tenyimi tribes dispersed and the Waistcoat depicts Tenyimi Men Gears. The black stripes represent the 11 Tenyimi tribes. The white colour signifies Purity.”

The programme was chaired by Caleb Kent, Jt. Secy TUD, while God’s blessing was invoked by Neivi Khusoh, President, TWUD. Vote of thanks was delivered by Thepfüngunyü Solo, General Secretary TUD.
