DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 12 (MExN): The Tesophenyu Gropu Students’ Union (TGSU) today issued a slew of resolutions restricting any political party from forming camps, supplying cash, intoxicants, and hectic campaigning and canvassing within its jurisdiction from November 11 onwards.
These resolutions were adopted keeping in mind the upcoming events to be held in their jurisdiction, including the Golden Jubilee Friendship Treaty between Tesophenyu and Touphema; the 39th Rengma Students’ Union General Conference and the Golden Jubilee cum Priestly Ordination of St Peter’s Catholic Church Tesophenyu.
In view of these upcoming events, the TGSU made it clear that the union is “neither against nor in favour of any political parties.” The TGSU however appealed all sections to “acknowledge and respect the decisions of the union for promoting peaceful coexistence, conducive atmosphere and maintaining friendly relations without inciting any untoward incidents free from violence.”
It further informed that the union along with the four village councils under its jurisdiction would collaborate and coordinate to contain anti-social elements.
The TGSU cautioned that anyone violating this “code of conduct” would be doing so “at one’s own risk and he/she/they shall be responsible for failure of the envisaged programmes and activities.”
