The burden of taxation

The Naga people have been undergoing acute hardship because of taxation. Taxation by whom? By the Nagas themselves. It is a matter of self-burning. It became unbearable, so bandh was imposed in protest against it. But can it be successful? If there is no alternative way, it cannot allay the trouble. There are many factional organizations and whose maintenance is entirely dependent of the public. So as long as factions are there, taxation will continue. Instead of curbing it, it will increase and extortion will increase because it is their sole income.

A way of solution is to be sought. Solution to the problem of taxation lies in solution to the existence of factions. The crux of the problem is the unresolving of the Indo-Naga political problem. If a settlement is made, then only factional problem will be resolved. So the people should focus on an early settlement.

Within the short span of life on this earth, anybody should decide himself or herself whether to be a part of healing or of trouble.
