It is alarming to hear there are Satan Worshipers in Nagaland, but writings by Faithful Naga Christians in the Papers and their views sobered me and it dawned on me that Hebrew Kings, in numbers more than comfortable, at the time of Elijah and the Prophets, worshiped satanic Deities.
No one can perhaps legally stop any Naga from establishing a Satan Church in Nagaland if it is within the Law of the Land but it is believed so far there are no Satan Churches in the State.
Surprisingly, it is the developed Christian Nations of the West, even America including its President and Secretary of State, support Sodomy, Lesbianism, Gay and Same-Sex Marriage if on mutual consent. This is complete anathema to the Judeo-Christian Moral Ethics and Principles of the Bible.
The civilized West today seems to have an overdose of personal and individual legal Rights to the disadvantage of the composite Society. Mutual consent is not everything in Man; it is Spirit of God the final Dispenser of moral and ethical Codes of Man. It appears worldly wise Man, beautifully use the necessary Evil of majority Politics to compromise Christian Ethics for political interest of the self.
This is why Politics in Religion or Religion in Politics is always a danger to Christianity in the long run and the separation of Church and State is a well advised wisdom to Christianity. In matters of Moral Principles and Ethics, it is good conscience to take the Church’s moral and ethical principles higher than that of the State.
Coming to Nagaland; there is restlessness, turmoil and lack of Peace in the heart of many a young baptized Christians; even some Grownups attending Church almost every Sundays regularly, have no Peace of Mind. The Church is not supposed to solve all the psychological and mental problems of the Society but the failure, to a great extent, in the Religious Teachers in our land, to instill Truth, enliven and enlighten the hearts in the life of the unfortunates in our Society, is one of its greatest shortcomings.
Churches in Nagaland; more or less emphasize the outside appearances more than the weightier matters of discernment of the Inside. This is exactly what Jesus has against the Religious Leaders of his days. He chided them for their ability to discern the next day’s weather just by looking at the condition of the sky in the evening horizon at Sunset but they can not comprehend the Messenger of God even if they saw Him, heard Him and witnessed His wonderful works: the same situation seems to exist in Nagaland today and this is a the great challenge to the Religious Teachers.
The News Report of the number of Satan worshipers in Nagaland is alarming indeed, but I presume this could be just an off-hand casual estimate with considerable publicity value in the injudiciously simple section of the society where people have no qualm in using National Flag and the Christian Cross together to attract nationalist minded Christians to arranged Crusades. I presume the reported number has to be taken only as an idea rather than actual recorded material.
I once heard the Story of a sinking Ship in the Ocean; the Passengers were filled with fear, there was hysteria, hopelessness and gloom and total chaos in the Ship. In the midst was a Group of Quaker Christians traveling to America, running away from the Religious persecutions in their Homelands in Europe. Amid the Chaos, hysteria and total confusion and disarray, the Passengers observed the Quaker Members were all quiet, serene and peacefully praying together. This greatly impressed the other Passengers.
Peace of mind comes from the Spirit of God and is demonstrated in action rather than preached or sermoned. The Peaceful behavior of Jesus in a small Boat sleeping serenely in the raging sea taught the Apostles and the Disciples Peace of Mind.
Nagaland today does not appear searching for Peace of God. We are too busy searching for Political honorable Settlement which we preach as Peace; our Religious Teachers are too busy in the programs of Religion, they give very nice Sermons but do not bring Peace to our Society.
Political Peace seems the paramount Subject for the Nagas today; from Chief Minister to the big Ministers to lesser Ministers to the small Ministers, the MLAs, the Hohos and all Civil NGOs, Male and Female including the Church, seems to have completely engrossed themselves in the Political Peace in Nagaland. This is political Peace; not Peace with God’ which is the true Peace.
The turmoil in the search of political Peace in Nagaland gives no Peace to the people; the common man and woman worry and is uncertain. Worldly Peace is political Peace. It is only Peace with God that will give Peace of Mind. This is how layman like me takes. I wonder what importance the Church Leaders give to this, their behavior and examples in real life has tremendous importance to the Society.
The Writer has no intension of meddling in the affairs of the State Political Parties; however recently the Chief Minister and his Party seems to be casting long glances for eye-to-eye contact with Indian National Parties importantly the Bharatya Janata Party. The BJP seems to have luminaries who have expressed sympathy for the Naga political Stand. This is all very welcome; this is Naga’s favorite theme but I will the majority Christian State of Nagaland with its motto of Nagaland For Christ hobnobbing with a Party decidedly viewed as communal with very unpleasant record of Anti-Christian activities, be congruous to Christian Nagaland? Personally I doubt the BJP’s sincerity vis-à-vis Naga National Stand.
The BJP is based on the firmer foundation of the RSS –a militant Organization based on the Hindu Religion which does not accept the Dalits as equal to the Brahmins. In the Hindu view, the Schedule Tribes including Nagas, are not equal to other Hindus. My view is: the BJP is significantly and basically incongruous to Christianity and I fear the BJP’s bear hug of the Nagas.
The Caste System is Hindu Religion’s greatest Moral Weakness; Islam’s morality of Polygyne, its lack of tolerance for what it calls the Infidels and its justification of Violence for its Belief are difficult to accept. The greatest Morality among Man is: Reverence for Life; the Judeo-Christian Moral Ethics of: ‘Love your Enemy’ is arguably the most acceptable Human Value based of its concept of a loving God of all People.
