We the Nagas are a peculiar sovereign independent people. We have our inherent sovereignty and freedom the gift of God, the Creator of the Universe. Nothing is more precious than this in this world we live in. Therefore with the evolution of the modern world, our people constituted the Naga National Council (NNC) on 2nd February, 1946 to continue to safeguard our inborn sovereign independence and freedom. Thus NNC had excellently done its job as mandated by the Naga people. And no other national council of the Nagas has been constituted by the Naga people till date.
Our people have legitimately established the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) on 22nd March, 1956 through a federation to govern the Naga territories at the extent of the Yehzabo (Constitution) of Nagaland. As a result an International Ceasefire Agreement was signed in 1964 between the two Governments, viz; the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) and the Government of India (GOI). The ceasefire agreement was officially effected on 6th September, 1964. Thus the NNC/FGN upholds the ceasefire agreement up to this day. And no other Government of Nagaland is being established so far by the Naga people.
Besides, all of our people including Isak, Th. Muivah, S.S. Khaplang, Khole and other senior leaders were working together in the NNC/FGN as a family and continued to work together till the formation of the NSCN by themselves on 31st January, 1980. Then division among the Nagas began and more division followed one after another. So the fratricidal killing continued up to this day.
Amidst a debate about the NNC and the Shillong Accord with irresponsible words between Mr. Kaka D. Iralu a Naga Scholar and a popular writer who does not want any post of India the aggressor and Mr. Khekiye a Naga Scholar but an Indian officer (IAS Retd.) is going on in local dailies. This is a lesson for all the Nagas to be careful. The Nagas are not Indian, but some educated Nagas often became the faithful servant of India, the invader and fought against NNC/FGN in collaboration with India the enemy and still doing the same.
To this A.Z. Phizo, the father of the Naga nation said, “No people or nation anywhere throughout the world so foolishly fought against their own countrymen like some of the NPCs do”.
The Shillong Accord was signed on 11th November, 1975 between (five individuals) on behalf of the representative of the Underground Organisations and representative of the Government of India (L.P. Singh) on behalf of the Government of India. The Shillong Accord was written in English. Read as much as possible. But NNC or FGN would never be found there. The Shillong Accord should not be interpreted by presumption or by imagination.
All the NNC/FGN Workers including Isak, Th. Muivah, S.S. Khaplang, Khole and other senior leaders who are now in the factions were serving together under the banner of NNC/FGN up to 31st January, 1980.The Shillong Accord was signed in 1975. If NNC/FGN did sign the Accord, then Isak, Th. Muivah, S.S. Khaplang and all NNC/FGN workers in those days might have signed the Accord. But they did not sign the Accord. Likewise no other NNC/FGN workers did sign the Accord except those 5 signatories. Appreciate or oppose them (signatories) as you wish.
The NNC/FGN belongs to the Naga people and the National workers. NNC/FGN or Naga nation does not belong to 5 individuals. The mandate of the Naga people does not belong to 5 signatories. If the Naga nation or the NNC/FGN belongs to those 5 signatories, the total Naga population and thousands of Naga National Workers are valueless. Thousands of Naga National Leaders and followers who had no principle have already surrendered to India, but Naga nation always remains alive. Some Naga Scholars like Mr. Khekiye have become an officer of India to enjoy salary, but the Nationalists always stand as a Naga as the Nagas are not Indian. Let us be careful, lest the wrath of God befalls.
Victor,
NNC, Member.
