Film Association of Nagaland announces Online Film Competition 2021

The Film Association of Nagaland (FAN) will be organising an online short film competition on the theme, ‘The New Normal.’ Announcing this during a press conference here at East Gate Hotel, FAN officials informed that the event will be held in association with Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) Nagaland and Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA).

FAN president, Kivini Shohe and general Secretary, Yapangnaro Longkumer along with DIPR Joint Director, Asangla Imsong addressed the press conference.

Longkumer said that the theme “The New Normal” has been chosen to adapt to a new way of life and a new way of making films post COVID-19 pandemic. She added that the Association plans to announce the results during the Nagaland Film Festival, 2021, which is proposed to be held during the Hornbill Festival.

FAN President Kivini Shohe said that the purpose of the competition is to help the young people to hone their skills in film making. She stated that they are hoping for people to share their untold stories, especially of the pandemic experience. She added that FAN plans to promote story tellers even in the coming days.

Asangla Imsong informed that the third edition of the Nagaland Film Festival is proposed to be held during the Hornbill Festival, 2021 if the pandemic situation subsides. Imsong added that the Department is currently drafting the film policy of the state, which will be drafted keeping in mind of the conditions of the film industry in the state.

The first prize of the film competition will carry a cash prize of Rs 25,000 & certificate. The second and the third position will be awarded Rs 15,000 & certificate and Rs 10,000 & certificate respectively.

Terms and conditions:
•    Maximum length: 10 minutes
•    Maximum file size: 700 MB
•    Film can be shot on phone or video camera
•    The contest will be open to all citizens of Nagaland except members of FAN
•    Language of the film can be in English or in any vernacular with English subtitles
•    Contestants should fully & unconditionally be bound to the terms and conditions of the contest.
•    Submission of film can be made through filmassociationofnagaland@gmail.com
•    The period of submission of entry is from October 12 till November 12.
