‘The Teacher App’ to strengthen Science, Math teaching launched in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, September 23 (MExN): A programme to launch a professional development initiative for primary teachers of Mathematics and Science was held at the Sangtemla community hall, Mokokchung on September 23.

The event, organised by the Bharti Airtel Foundation in collaboration with the Mokokchung District Education Department, was graced by Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma as the chief guest.

Verma officially launched the Teachers App, emphasising that it will strengthen and energise schools, engage teachers, students, and parents for school transformation.

He commended the Bharti Airtel Foundation for its visionary approach for the last 25 years in imparting training for teachers and enhancing teachers skill for creating a more inclusive and effective learning environment.

The Deputy Commissioner encouraged all participants to avail the benefits of the foundation's initiatives and assured full support from the district administration to ensure the success of the program in the district.

An introduction to the Bharti Airtel Foundation was presented by a representative, Hammed.

He highlighted the Department of School Education, Nagaland in collaboration with Bharti Airtel Foundation’s platform, The Teacher App, has launched a Teachers’ Professional Development Program to strengthen teaching in Mathematics and Science. The initiative focuses on pedagogical skills, transforming classroom practices, and creating engaging learning environments in the schools.

The Teachers App, a flagship initiative of Bharti Airtel Foundation, provide teachers with high-quality, easy-to-use content across language, leadership, pedagogy, co-scholastic areas, social sciences, and other essential academic and co-curricular domains.

The programme combines self-paced online courses and interactive webinars on The Teacher App, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP). The research-backed and field-tested content is tailored to help teachers apply effective strategies directly in classrooms.

The teachers will participate in the programme through a phased approach. On successful completion, they will be awarded a joint Program Completion Certificate from DSEN and Bharti Airtel Foundation.

In its first phase, the programme will train teachers in Mokokchung district, equipping them with innovative strategies, practical resources, and NEP-aligned methods. The long term goal is to scale the initiative statewide, ensuring consistent teacher empowerment and improved student outcomes. 

The District education Officer, Sentinenla, in her address urged the teachers to register in the App and to complete the training even though there are so many other activities to be carried out in the schools in order to enhance the learning outcome of the students in the district.

The event was attended by 80 teachers, along with officials including Assistant Commissioner Ajay Moktan, Sr SDEO of Mokokchung, AEO, Assistant District Coordinator for Samagra Shiksha, TOTs, and EBRC personnel.
