Thefts stall CT scan launch at Naga Hospital

KOHIMA, May 6 (MExN): Repeated thefts at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK) have disrupted the commissioning of key medical services, including the long-awaited CT scan facility, hospital authorities reported Tuesday. According to a statement issued by the Managing Director of NHAK, Dr. M. Margaret Yhome, copper wires connecting the grounding system to the CT scan machine have been stolen on two separate occasions, causing significant delays in activating the diagnostic service.

“These acts are not only a serious nuisance but also disrupt essential public health service delivery,” the statement read. An FIR has been lodged with the South Police Station, Kohima, on April 19, under Receipt PT-IV No. 371/25. Authorities said the matter is under investigation. Dr. Yhome appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the perpetrators. “Your cooperation is also solicited to prevent such incidents in the future and to safeguard critical healthcare infrastructure,” the release added.
