Thejavizo Merhieso from Nerhema village today emerged the coveted champion title of the senior category of 35th Wrestling Meet 2026 of Northern Angami Youth & Sports Association Group- C (NAYSA- C), held at Tsiesema in Kohima district.
Thejavizo Merhieso pocketed a cash prize of Rs 30000, sponsored by Khrielievio Yhor, Secretary General, Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association and NAPO –C Judicial Secretary.
Petoulhoulie Soriinuo (Zhadima) bagged the second position and awarded with Rs. 15,000, sponsored by Neingutuo Usou, OSD to Minister Tourism & Higher Education.
Keneichiituo Semou (Nerhema) stood third place and received Rs 10000, sponsored by Neithonuo Yiese, Proprietor, Ara Travel.
4th position holder Ruokuovizo Soriinuo (Zhadima) awarded with Rs 7000, sponsored by Kevilebeinuo, women coordinator NASA.
The losing quarter finalists received Rs 2000 each, sponsored by Er Kikrusalie Kiewhuo, Deputy General Manager, NSDMC.
In Under 15 category, Keviletuo Khro from Tsiesema bagged the champion title and received Rs. 10,000, sponsored by NAYSA C officials.
Ketouphrezo Khro (Tsiesema) stood 2nd position and awarded with Rs 7000, sponsored by Kevizelie Pienyii, President, Nerhe- Phezha Youth Organization.
Viketoulie Miario (Zhadima) bagged third position and received Rs 5000, sponsored by Ruokuovilie Loucii.
Razousetuo Rutsa (Nerhe Model) stood 4th position.
Khrietoulie officiated the meet as Chief Referee and assisted by Surhoneyi, Zehoto, Luozolie, Kelhousetuo, Keneiwelie, Dziesekhrietuo, Vikhozolie and Mhasivotuo.
Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education & SCERT, Govt of Nagaland graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he expressed happiness over the positive growth and reaching Naga wrestling to other tribes of the state, apart from Angami, Chakhesang and Zeliang. Dr Yhome also expressed delight over the recent inclusion of Naga wrestling in the national event at Goa and the plans of the Nagaland Wrestling Association to make it as international competition event in the coming days.
Seyiekhrielhou Kuotsu, PA to Chief Minister of Nagaland, graced the prize distribution ceremony as the special guest and gave away prize to the winners.
Earlier, NAYSA-C president Petekhrietuo Kiewhuo delivered presidential address while Khrielezo Khro, Chairman, Tsiesema Village Council shared greetings. NAYSA-C assistant wrestling secretary Neipfelie Zatsu administered oath to 51 senior wrestlers and 16 wrestlers Under 15 category. Vote of thanks was proposed by NAYSA-C treasurer Ruokuohelie Vipfhe.
