
Kohima, May 3 (MExN): ATMA Jakhama block organized Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (Farmers Welfare Workshop) at Village Council Hall, Kigwema on May 2 with G. Ikuto Zhimomi, Director of Agriculture & State Nodal Officer (ATMA) as the special guest. The program was jointly graced by Rahul Singh Deputy Director Plant Protection, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India as Central observer.
G. Ikuto Zhimomi in his speech stated on the objectives and proposed strategies on ‘Doubling of Farmers Income’ by 2022 and inaugurated the ‘Kisan Ghosthi.’ He stressed on the utility of mobile app on ‘Naga Farm Doctor’ for farmers which was recently launched by the Nagaland Government.
Out of the 13 nominated progressive farmers for award 2017-2018 from various allied departments, Zakieho Lüho (Plant Propagator) from Khuzama Village was awarded the best Farmer under Jakhama Block.
Vizonyü Liezie, DAO Kohima also supplemented on the proposed strategies on ‘Doubling of Farmers’ Income by 2022 and encouraged the farmers to grab various schemes under Agri and Allied departments by imparting queries and information at the right time and right season.
Representatives from six Agri and Allied departments highlighted on various ongoing schemes and projects and shared on how the farmers avail such schemes.
The technical session was followed by ‘Farmers Scientist Interaction’ with resource persons Ziete ACTO and Keviyieno Zhasa, (Technical Officer) KVK Kohima sharing on the latest technology practices available for increasing farm income and farm production. A brief status on line sowing and SRI system and videos of practical application on it were shared by Keviyieno.
Kisan Ghosthi was held with participants of various FSGs, FIGs, CIGs under ATMA Jakhama Block and the allied departments. ATMA technical folders and ‘Doubling of Farmers income’ its strategies & action plans translated in local dialect were also distributed to the farmers.
The function was followed by Animal Health Camp where 25 dogs were vaccinated and treatment of some animals was undertaken. The programme was attended by 104 participants from 10 villages under Jakhama Block and Allied departments.
