DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (DIPR): The foundation stone for a Trauma Care Centre was laid today by Home Minister, Thenucho at Police Complex, Chümukedima.
The Home Minister in his speech expressed the hope that with the opening of the Trauma Care Centre for the Department, the Police Department will be able to provide better health assistance to the public, especially to victims of vehicular accidents. He also said that the Trauma Care Centre will be constructed within 4-5 months time for which the Union Government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 1.5 Crores in a one time grant. He also said that the opening of the Trauma Care Centre is homage to the many difficult roles played by the Police Officers and policemen in containing law and order situation, fighting crimes and criminals, besides rigorously pursuing case investigations etc.
The Minister further said that with the economic growth of the citizens we see many developments taking place which has increased the demand in improvement of our health care day by day for which he feels that there is an urgent need to establish a Trauma Care Centre where accident victims can immediately be provided medical assistance. Keeping this in mind, Thenucho said the Trauma Care Centre foundation stone is being laid on this day and once the center is fully established he hoped that it will provide much help to the victims and in the process save lives by giving timely treatment. He also said that two ambulances will be kept in the Trauma Care Centre only for the accident victims. Besides setting up of this Trauma Care Centre which will be run Specialist Doctors, Thenucho also said that for the police force, a life insurance scheme will be introduced, besides opening up of blood banks, one good labour room to be attached in all the hospitals of the police headquarters, police housewives to organize health care activities like HIV/AIDS awareness programme, introduction of Yoga and AYUSH, the Principle of Homeopathy, treatment of common ailments through homeopathy to be introduced for the police personnel.
The Director General of Police, J. Changkija said that the opening of the Trauma Care Centre is the brain child of the Home Minister, Thenucho who has been very keen to establish such a center to provide immediate assistance to the people who are involved in any motor vehicular accidents as there is no single Trauma Care Center along the NH 39 passing through our state. This Centre will have a total plinth area of about 4000 sq. ft and will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 60 Lakhs, and all other requirements for the center are being provided.
