Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): Home Minister Thenucho is responsible for the changes in the internal readjustment Draft Working Paper proposed by the delimitation commission, according to MLA K Therie. The Paper reflects the interest of Thenucho, who is also Minister In-charge for Election, “and perhaps some of his close colleagues,” Therie noted in a statement issued here. “The selfish and ulterior motive of the Minister In-charge of election who is also an Associated Member to the Delimitation Commission, is also responsible for the drastic changes in the internal readjustment Draft Working paper proposed by the delimitation Commission of India; the proceedings of the Associated Members appears to be two-faced,” the MLA stated, noting that the members in meetings stood for status quo.
The MLA stated that after assuming office of the Minister In-charge and Associated Member to the commission he had conveniently avoided consultative meetings even to legislators from Phek, despite written and verbal requests, Therie stated. “On 16th March, 2007, Thenucho has flatly denied having any knowledge on the Draft Working Paper proposing to change serial order, name and make-up of the constituencies. However, his supporters have campaigned for acceptance of the draft,” he stated. The MLA also maintained that he (Therie) is in possession of evidence that Associated Members were consulted and thereafter, the draft was prepared. According to the commission, only after discussions with Associated Members are complete, the delimitation draft proposal is prepared, Therie explained. “Therefore the Minister In-Charge of Election denying of having knowledge on the Draft Working Paper is a farce” Therie concluded.
