
‘Elect God fearing people for a God fearing Government’
KOHIMA, September 27 (NEPS): Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader K Therie said the nine-and-a-half years of Neiphiu Rio’s DAN Government in the State had “doomed the economy” of the State for a few decades to come. Talking to NEPS here Thursday, the former Minister alleged that the debt Rio created during his nine-and-a-half years of ruling in the State would burden the coming generations.
Therie also disclosed that although the DAN Chief Minister had built some buildings in the State but they were “non-generating assets.” “I think, Rio has doomed the economy of the State for a few decades to come,” he said and further stated, “Our resources have never been improved, neither could he (Rio) take a firm decision to explore to improve them.”
Stating that Rio was lacking “economic vision,” Therie described the former as “better” in collecting commissions. “I think his knowledge is limited to that,” he added. Expressing his dismay on the serial scams and scandals plaguing the State under Rio’s Ministry, Therie said, “I don’t know which department doesn’t have scam now.” “Present environment in the State is full of corruption,” he added.
In view of the State general election’s fast approaching, Therie called upon the electorates in Nagaland that they should now meticulously scrutinize the present state of affairs under Rio’s DAN Ministry afflicting them and decide to elect “God fearing people for a God fearing Government.” “With that we may be able to give a change to our people,” he asserted.
