Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) K Therie on Monday claimed that the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) would merge with the Naga People’s Front (NPF) in view of the latter’s presence in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
In a press release, Therie claimed that despite the infighting in the past, the two parties had come together under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) with a common objective to delay the Naga political solution and corrupt the state treasury.
Taking a jibe at Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Therie also alleged that the former had accumulated unaccountable wealth and that “All MLAs are on their knees begging for his mercy to fund their expensive election.”
“Rio has absolute power… There is nobody in the Assembly to defend the people or to question him,” he added.
He also claimed that the chief minister would discard some MLAs in the coming election and dump the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if a non-BJP government is formed at the Centre.
“BJP has no soul in Nagaland. People do not love BJP at all. It is only power and money for now. It is temporary and there will be no legacy,” Therie added.
