Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): The District Excise personnel manning the Chumukedima Excise Check gate have arrested three persons for possession and trafficking of ‘illegal’ liquors while checking suspected vehicles on June 1. The first arrests were made when 144 bottles of IMFL Rum (750m1) & 48 Can Beers (500m1) were recovered from two vehicles, S Chanlei Angh Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition informed in a press note. In this connection, one Alowia Zeliang, a resident of Ghorapati, Dimapur and one Ali Sangtam of High School Colony, Kohima was arrested and booked under Section 44 of NLTP ACT 1989, it said. In a separate arrest, one Khrolezo Wezah of Chizami Town, Phek was booked under relevant section of the NLTP ACT 1989 for illegal trafficking of 84 bottles of IMFL Rum (750 ml) by the same party in Chumukedima, it added. The detections and seizures were made under the command of Lawrence A.I.E. and Phongtin H/C along with constables - Kiyelu, Akahoto, Jungshi, Thejong, Ranglise, Athungo, Amet Phom, and Zubeni.
