DIMAPUR, MAY 9 (MExN): The Thuvopisumi Village Council of Phek district in a rejoinder has expressed their ‘amusement’ on the claim of ownership by Pholami village over Dzudu Lake.
According to the Chairman of Thuvopisumi village, Kuveci Dozo, “the first settlers set their foot on the ground of Dzudu, discovered it, marked it even far beyond the lake and named it as a source of blessing to Thuvopisumi”. In the rejoinder he said, “Thuvopisumi village from the time of its settlement, exist and survive because of the Dzudu River. Therefore whoever claims the ownership of Dzudu Lake against Thuvopisumi ownership is false, sinful, and unlawful, has ulterior motive and is against nature”.
Kuveci has also expressed gratitude to the Science and Technology department of Nagaland and Government of India for installing a microhydel project at Dzudu river flowing from Dzudu Lake.
Earlier in a press release Pholami village had claimed ownership over Dzudu Lake and restricted any individuals or departments from constructing resting sheds without the prior permission of the Pholami Village Council.
Dzudu Lake is a natural lake fed by seven streams and situated 5kms from the village of Pholami.
