Tikhir tribe included in Nagaland reservation quota

Dimapur, April 6 (MExN): Taking cognisance that the Tikhir tribe is an “educationally and economically backward tribe,” the Government of Nagaland has modified the 25 percent reservation quota to include the Tikhir tribe, with immediate effect.

A notification to this effect was issued by the State Chief Secretary J Alam on March 23, stating that 25 percent of all categories, both gazetted and non-gazetted posts under the Government of Nagaland would be reserved for persons belonging to seven tribes from the districts of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak and Shamator. The tribes include Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam, Tikhir, and Yimkhiung.
