DIMAPUR, JAN 9 (MExN): In a significant undertaking, leaders of the Yimchungrü and the Tikhir on January 8 appended their signatures “to stop violence and restore complete peace and normalcy with immediate effect.” The undertaking, received today, and forwarded through the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang was agreed upon by both contending parties “in order to contain violence and restore normalcy in Yimchungrü and Tikhir sub-dialect areas.” Signed by the respective tribal council presidents and secretaries of the executive council, the witnesses to the undertaking are Vice President of the ENPO, A Chingmak, President of the ENGO, A M Sangtam and President of the ENSF, YP Chillio. “In the event of any casualties, injuries and destruction of properties of one community, the other community shall be held solely responsible.”
