
Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): Anglers Association Nagaland (ANN) is organizing Tizu Angling Festival on March 2 and 3 at Tizu River in association with District Administration Pungro and Moya Village Council. The objective of the event is to promote angling as a sport and at the same time explore the rich potentials these areas have to offer for eco tourism, AAN General Secretary Ricky Ozukum informed in a press release. In the two days, there will be workshops to educate about the indigenous fish, rivers, conservation and most importantly to spread message against the rampant use of dynamites, chemicals and other unethical ways of fishing that are destroying the rivers, lakes and other water bodies for which AAN has been campaigning, it added. Apart from the workshops, the main highlights of the fest will be camping, bonfire, foods stalls, trekking, games, music and angling competitions, for which cash prizes of Rs. 50,000/, Rs. 30,000/ and Rs. 20,000/ will be given away to the first, second, third winners respectively. Certificates and angling gifts will be given to all the participants. The registration fee is Rs.500/. Besides the affiliated districts, renowned anglers from the country have confirmed to participate in the fest, the release said. Tents on hire will be given only to participants from outside the state, it added. NEC Energy Pvt.
