Dimapur Dec 16 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has affirmed that the Tuensang and Mon Public Organization (TMPO), is very much part and parcel of the Naga Hoho and that it should not be considered as one involved in policy of separation from other Nagas.
Expressing ‘pain’ that some authors of a certain news item in the local papers were making contradictory statements , the KSU through a rejoinder issued by Manpong, President and Nockpai, Vice-president of the students’ body, stated that it was profoundly grateful to the TMPO for advocating peace and unity among the Nagas, “which is a known fact accepted by all.” Asserting that the TMPO never stood for disunity among the Nagas and instead wanted peace and unity in good conscience, the KSU stated that the TMPO had always been ‘obedient’ to the call of the Naga cause through thick and thin while others “might have whimpered”.
The organization stated that it has seriously analyzed the false allegations made towards the two districts, Mon and Tuensang, and found no basis whatsoever. “What they have alleged is nothing more than an intrigue to soil the good rapport of the TNMPO with other Nagas”, the release stated.
KSU strongly maintained that the TMPO was part and parcel of the Naga Hoho and the allegations that it had declined to be part of it should not be taken as a policy of separation from other Nagas adding that the public organization has its own reasons for not joining the apex Naga tribal body. “But all the same both TMPO and Naga Hoho has a single goal though strategies may differ and the continuation of the present TMPO leadership will in no way hamper the peace process as being alleged by some” it stated.
The KSU in this regard appealed not to make destructive criticisms against an endeavoring union without being aware of the ground realities which would only infuse misunderstanding rather than create a ground for constructive development.
