
Tobu, April 13 (MExN): The Tobu Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited (TOFPCL), under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER) Phase-4, held its Annual General Meeting on April 11 at the Konyak Union Conference Hall in Tobu. The meeting brought together representatives from Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) across six villages and service providers to review progress and strategize future efforts to strengthen the organic farming ecosystem in the region.
Organized by the Agriculture Department, the meeting was aimed at enhancing collaboration between FPCs and service providers involved in the organic value chain. The MOVCD initiative, launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, focuses on promoting organic farming in the North East through cluster-based development and support across the entire value chain.
The meeting was chaired by C. Angke, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TOFPCL, who delivered the welcome address. He thanked the farmers from the Tobu area for their participation and acknowledged the support of the local administration and Agriculture Department, led by the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), Tobu.
Special guest Shaying Sheu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tobu, emphasized the long-term health and environmental benefits of organic farming. He encouraged continued farmer training and visits to better understand ground-level needs and build capacity.
In his keynote address, SDAO Thritiba Sangtam highlighted the significant achievements under the MOVCD initiative and called for renewed efforts to complete ongoing work. He also praised the active participation of women in the meeting and training sessions.
More than 300 farmers, FPC members, and service providers attended the meeting. An interactive session provided a platform for stakeholders to share field-level experiences and propose practical solutions to common challenges. The program concluded with the distribution of farming tools and equipment to selected beneficiaries, reinforcing support for organic farming practices in the region.
