Toka Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd, the State executing partner for PMVDY Scheme under Nagaland State Co-operative and Consumers’ Federation Ltd (MARCOFED Ltd) won the prestigious national award for ‘Best Innovative Product’ while Toka MPCS secretary and managing director, K Kathi Chishi, bagged the coveted individual award for ‘Best Mentor/Entrepreneur’ at the recently held National Award in PMVDY Scheme under Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The awards were presented on the 34th anniversary of TRIFED Foundation Day by Union minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda.
At a felicitation programme held at Toka MPCS office, Purana Bazar, the MD of Toka MPSC, Kathi Chishi, in his address expressed gratitude to the Government of Nagaland for giving the co-operative society the opportunity to partner in the scheme for entrepreneurship and cluster development. “I am extremely proud that the outcome of this has been an individual award. As a board member of MARCOFED, we have been charged with the idea of reviving MARCOFED as we are proud at where MARCOFED is today,” Chishi said.
He said the PMVDY or Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) scheme is to enhance livelihood and the success of Toka MPC has been an example not only in the state but also in the nation.
On the occasion, the MD also announced a fresh scheme for farmers/co-operatives and entrepreneurs in collaboration with CSIR-CIMAP. Chishi said under this scheme, Toka MPCS would provide seeds and saplings free of cost along with necessary processing units and assured buy-back guarantee to any farmer/co-operative or entrepreneur willing to cultivate aromatic or medicinal plants.
“The target we have set for the promotion of aromatic and medicinal plants is 3500 acres. People interested will have to give proper address including location because the crops have been strategically designed according to physical and climatic conditions,” he said. Meanwhile, managing director, MARCOFED Ltd, T Vikuto Zhimo, congratulated Toka MPCS for winning the ‘Best Innovative Product’ award and its MD, Kathi Chishi, for bagging the ‘Best Mentor/Entrepreneur’ award.
Zhimo said Kathi Chishi is also currently holding other positions like member, Board of Directors, MARCOFED, general board member of TRIFED and two-time national awardee.
The MARCOFED MD also congratulated Youth Net VDVK for winning three van dhan awards at the state level.
