Mhonlumo Kikon, Advisor, IT, Science & Technology and NRE speaking during the Tokhü Emong cum mini Hornbill Festival 2021 in Wokha.
Wokha, November 5 (MExN): The Tokhü Emong cum mini Hornbill Festival 2021 began today at public ground Wokha with Mhonlumo Kikon, Advisor, IT, Science & Technology and NRE as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Kikon extended Tokhü greetings and expressed solidarity, peace and tranquility among the Lothas and also extended fraternity of brotherhood in the larger interest of Naga society.
Kikon said that storytelling is the most important and powerful medium of communication. He said that discussion and gathering are essential for preserving and living one’s culture. He meanwhile emphasised the various developmental activities in Nagaland and highlighted the first four lane from Dimapur to Kohima under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kikon meanwhile called for equitable, fair and just solution and urged the gathering to consider the sacrifices made by leaders for the Naga cause.
He also called upon the people to open their minds regarding the COVID-19 vaccination.
Kikon also stressed on the theme ‘Unity in Purpose’ and urged the people to commit themselves to volunteer and sacrifice for the betterment of the community.
Witter Theological College, Vankhosung and Wokha Town Longsa Eloe Cultural Group presented Lotha cultural songs while Wokha Town Phiro Cultural Organisation presented a traditional folk dance.
Declaration of indigenous games competition was done by Er Mhondamo Ovung, Chairman, Lotha Hoho. Earlier an invocation prayer was said by Sanjamo Odyuo, Associate Pastor, Yikhum Baptist Church and a welcome address was delivered by N Thungjamo Lotha, Advisor, Lotha Hoho.
The inaugural session was chaired by Amos Odyuo, Joint Secretary, Lotha Hoho.
Meanwhile, the declaration of indigenous singing event of Tokhü Emong was declared open by Benrithung Kikon, Accounts Officer, DRDA, Wokha as the special guest in the evening session.
