Top State bureaucrats under scanner

The Opposition Congress today not only demanded the head of chief minister Neiphiu Rio for holding office of profit but also called for appropriate action against two top bureaucrats -Chief Secretary Lalhuma and Addl. Chief Secretary Lalthara- for partaking in the DAN’s programme of “celebration of three years in the office.”

In a memorandum, the NPCC has appealed to the State Governor to initiate appropriate action against the two senior bureaucrats for their direct involvement in the DAN government’s celebration of three years of their regime.

The memorandum said the two officials has set a bad precedent by partaking directly in the political body function which is purely against the Nagaland State Service conduct Rules. State Chief Secretary Lalhuma delivered welcome address, while Addl. Chief Secretary Lalthara chaired the function during the DAN government’s three years achievement programme on March 6 last.

“The NPCC is concerned that, the rule of law should prevail in our day-to-day activities and unless we uphold and safeguard the constitution, the state of affairs cannot be allowed to function in a lawless manner. While maintaining our consistent stand, the Congress party opposes any government officials directly involving themselves in any political party function” said the NPCC, while demanding appropriate action against the two top officials.
