PUNGRO, APRIL 8 (MExN): Parliamentary secretary for Excise, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection and Economics & Statistics, T Torechu has called upon the administration and officers of various departments posted in Pungro sub-division to coordinate with each other in order to serve the people of the remote sub-division bordering Myanmar.
Addressing the administration and head of departments at a coordination meeting-cum-picnic on the banks of the scenic Tizu River, some 60 km from Pungro town, on Monday, the parliamentary secretary stressed on “team work as well as individual sincerity” on the part of the officers if they really want to serve the backward area people.
Torechu said if the officers coordinate with each other, share each others’ problems and perform their assigned duties with sincerity, then they can remove the “backward tag” of the eastern backward districts.
He also thanked the administration, police, officers and public of Pungro sub-division for enabling a peaceful and fair election in 60 Kiphire-Pungro assembly constituency.
On constraints and problems faced by various government departments due to encroachment of government land, the parliamentary secretary asked the departments concerned to inform him immediately so that remedial measures can be initiated.
Additional deputy commissioner Pungro, S Tainiu, who chaired the coordination meeting, in her address urged the officers posted in Pungro sub-division to consider themselves fortunate as they are serving one of the most remote and neglected areas of the state.
Requesting the officers and staff to be more regular in their place of posting, the ADC added, “let us leave our footprints or legacy behind.”
Officers of various departments including Medical, Power and Education briefed the parliamentary secretary on problems faced by respective departments, especially shortage of manpower and encroachment of department land.
Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) president, Thsemong, who also spoke on the occasion, assured YTC’s full cooperation for smooth functioning of the administration and departments.
