ABAM WD Impur first single women fellowship held
Dimapur, June 10 (MExN): The first Ao Single Working Women fellowship was organised by ABAM Women Department from June 9-10, 2012 on the topic “Contributions of Single Women towards Society.” A press note issued by Temsüla Lemtur,, Secretary, ABAM Women Department, Impur informed that the resource persons on the occasion were Rev. Dr. Noksangla, Dr. Akümla Longkümer, CTC, Rev. T. Narola Lemtur, NBCC, and Merensola, Lecturer, CTC.
The note mentioned that Rev. Narola gave a passionate message on the potential of a single woman. Quoting Margaret Clarkson, “Singleness is a gift,” she reflected the need of submission and strength before the sovereignty of God. She also encouraged the singles present to be ‘godly single women’.
Dr. Akümla Longkümer presented an insightful Bible Study from Gen. 1.26-28. She shared that we are created in the image of God, which denotes that we have the ability to create and to learn, ability to know right and wrong and the ability to fellowship. Thus woman is also a blessed individual and has a worth. She closed her words by saying, “We are God’s image bearer, and so single women must celebrate.
Merensola, Lecturer, CTC, on her paper presentation addressed the issue “Why the singles are not utilising the best potentials?” One of the reasons Merenla highlighted was the attitude of our society-which negatively influence single women self-esteem. Many singles are torn between the traditional value of marriage and one’s self-esteem, she said. Furthermore she commented that there is no salvation when singles let themselves dominated by outside factors particularly the traditional attitude of the society.
The note further mentioned that the two day programme came to a close with an inspiring message from Rev. Dr. Noksangla, who encouraged the singles with her message “The Joy of Being a Single Woman.” She stated, “It is a privilege to be single woman, because we can give our best in our work place and in ministry.” The programme was attended by 30 single women from church ministry as well as from government officials. All the participants had a blessed time.
