Touch Jorhat: Charity concert for flood victims receives impressive support

Mokokchung, July 17 (MExN): Touch Jorhat turned out to be one of the most successful charity concerts in recent times with thirty singers, bands and dancers taking the stage to entertain the audience for a cause inside the Mokokchung Municipal Council Shopping Complex on Saturday, July 16.

The Touch Jorhat free concert drive organized by I Love Mokokchung (ILM) Facebook group with the theme - Know thy neighbour - was the talk of the town for the past couple of days, not only in Mokokchung but also in the neighboring state of Assam.   The project started with just a single post on Facebook about the plight of the flood victims in Jorhat district of Assam, the immediate neighbour of Mokokchung and with whom the Ao community shares an age old cordial relationship.   Almost all the organizations and NGOs in the town, to whom the appeal letter was dispatched, responded positively - financially and logistically towards the successful hosting of the concert, stated a press release from ILM Group, Touch Jorhat Seasonal Spokesperson, Longrangty Longchar and Seasonal Secretary, Imliyanger Aier.   Though the unfortunate breakdown of the 5MVA transformer just a day before the concert hampered the power supply, and the incessant rains tried to play spoilsport, the show went on smoothly, the release said.   The musicians and the artistes also presented their very best. Dancers from Stereo Freaks lighted up the dance floor, while Lenjeter, a seasoned all male group, with their inspiring tribute song to Mokokchung raised the sentimental tempo of the citizens. Young and old musicians and artistes took the stage; the audience loved it.   There were also young children from the School of Music, Mountain Beat Music School who enthralled the audience with their budding talent. The Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School choir serenaded the audience with their beautiful songs. The ageless and inspiring Huntingboots Inc also enchanted the audience with their charismatic performances.   Tune Up Channel (best band at Nagaland Hornbill Intl Rock Contest, 2015) unarguably brought the adrenaline rush while Funk Fuzz band with their high pitched funk rock music gave a befitting end to a beautiful evening.   On Sunday, the organizers cleaned up the whole shopping complex helped by volunteers from the Gorkha Students' Union, Mokokchung and the Trailhounds Cycling Club.   The release mentioned that the whole proceeds of the Touch Jorhat project will be audited by an independent committee after which it will be sent to the Assam Flood Relief Fund through an appropriate authority.
