Zunheboto, August 23 (MExN): A one-day tourism awareness training was organized by the Nagaland Tourism Department in collaboration with the Nagaland Tourism Association at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall in Zunheboto.
The training, held on August 23, brought together representatives from various local organizations, including the Tizu Valley Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood Network (TVBCLN), SBAK Nito Mount, Ghosu Bird Sanctuary, Yemishe Village, and Asukho Village.
The initiative aimed to shift the local communities' approach to the tourism and hospitality sector, with the goal of creating more job opportunities in rural areas. The training focused on identifying tourist-centric destinations across the state and creating opportunities for both skilled and unskilled workers in the hospitality field.
Nyurhetho, Assistant Director of Nagaland Tourism, provided insights into the prospects of tourism in the state. Agumbe Nring, a Tourist Officer, discussed the role of travel agents and tour operators, while Vimeto Vakha, President of the Nagaland Tourism Association, covered the basics of tour guiding. Abigail Solo, another Tourist Officer, gave an overview of the hospitality industry.
The training concluded with remarks from Veteu Koza, Assistant Director, who highlighted the registration process, various schemes, and career opportunities available in homestays, tourism operations, and travel agencies.
