Tourism Dept asks support from tribe hohos for 25th Hornbill Festival 2024

In view of the upcoming 25th edition of Hornbill Festival 2024, Nagaland Tourism department today held a coordination meeting with all Tribal Hoho at the Conference hall of the Directorate of Tourism, Kohima.

In his address, Dr. G. Hukugha Sema, commissioner & secretary for tourism made a fervent appeal to the tribal Hohos to extend their full support and helping hand towards the success of the festival.

He said that Master Plan for Kisama, has been put in place and renovation and upgradation works of the main arena has already started.

He also requested all the tribal hohos to complete the renovation work of their respective morungs by November 15.

The Commissioner & secretary also called upon them to serve only local food and beverage during the festival and also ensure hygienic and plastic free environment within Kisama.

He informed that Hornbill festival has taken up in the highest level under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and tourism minister Temjen Imna Along.

A mass social will be undertaken in the 3rd week of October between Dimapur-Kisama, he said and called for active participation of the various departments and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, representative from ENPO requested the tourism department to allocate morung for Eastern Sumi as well.

Numerous suggestions were made during the meeting, like, installation of CCT in all morungs, adequate water supply, proper toilet system etc etc.
