
Dimapur, December 27 (MExN): The villagers of Kiyevi and Lamhai Namdi village have agreed to amicably settle the ongoing land dispute ‘based on the history, Naga customary law and its practices,’ according to the Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation (TPO) and the Central Naga Tribes Council (CNTC).
In a joint press release, the Presidents of TPO and CNTC informed that a joint Goodwill Mission Team visited Kiyevi and Lamhai Namdi villages on December 22. During the visit, a meeting was held in the presence of officials from the Western Sumi Hoho and the Zeliang People Organisation and the team impressed upon the two villages to maintain peaceful co-existence in view of festive season.
“It was agreed upon by both the villagers that the land dispute shall be amicably settled by the two villagers based on the history, Naga customary law and its practices,” the release stated.
The Goodwill Mission Team has also assured that the TPO and CNTC would assist the state Government of Nagaland and the two villages to find a permanent solution at the earliest, it added.
