Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang underscored today that the Nagaland Super League (NSL) offers a unique platform to strengthen the bond of Naga brotherhood, where players from different tribes unite under one club, playing together with no room for tribalism, but only camaraderie and the goal of winning for the team.

While launching the FanZone and Official Guide for NSL at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium, Zeliang expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and Chief Patron of the Nagaland Super League, the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA), the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Abu Metha (Secretary General of NOA and Vice President of the Athletic Federation of India), and all those involved in conceptualizing the NSL. He acknowledged their efforts in creating the biggest and most popular football festival, which provides a much-needed platform for young footballers in the state.

Addressing the players, he stated, “Every player here is a warrior. Every drop of sweat, every ounce of pain, every tear of joy and sadness will define you and push you toward greatness.” He said there are no shortcuts to success in the field, adding, “All you need is consistency and the determination to improve every day. Success or greatness is not given; it is earned.”

Zeliang expressed optimism that the NSL would serve as a stepping stone for Naga talents to shine on the national stage, providing a window to opportunities that they truly deserve. With the involvement of the AIFF, he noted that the NSL offers a chance for national football authorities to witness local talents firsthand.

He also encouraged the players to play with courage and pride, stating, “Leave everything you have on the field. When the final whistle blows, regardless of the outcome, know that you gave your best and be proud of it.”

To the fans, the Deputy Chief Minister praised their vital role, calling them the “heartbeat of the team” and the “12th player on the field.” He added, “Your loud cheers, contagious energy, and unwavering support fuel the players’ drive to perform better each time they step onto the field. Let us be the wind at their backs, the fire in their hearts, and the strength in their legs.”

Zeliang also introduced the innovative FanZone, which he described as another reason for fans to celebrate and enjoy the football experience. He also urged the fans to maintain decorum and respect for one another.
