DIMAPUR, JULY 14 (MExN): The NPF legislators led by former CM, TR Zeliang reached Kohima this afternoon after they were reportedly evacuated by boat from a resort in Assam’s Kaziranga, where they have been camping since last week. Zeliang reportedly met the Governor at around 7:00pm, and the meeting lasted for around 15-20 minutes. However, details of the meeting could not be ascertained. Former Forest Minister, Imkong L Imchen when contacted said that they cannot divulge any information regarding the meeting at this point. Meanwhile, an IANS report said that Zeliang is “prepared for the floor test.” “He is also confident of getting the support of four BJP legislators.” It further quoted the former CM as stating: “I am prepared to get to the government through the democratic means of a floor test, so that the unity within the rank and file of the party is firmly secured.” Earlier in the day, an executive at the resort told the Hindustan Times (HT) that an SDRF boat was used to evacuate the MLAs and other people camped there. “The entire resort was booked to accommodate some 130 people from Nagaland. The SDRF evacuated them in batches from 7 am on Friday. The entire operation took 4 hours,” the report said. After the legislators were evacuated, they left for Nagaland in a fleet of SUVs parked on the highway. Through their stay, relatives and acquaintances of the MLAs had been bringing home-cooked food from Nagaland on local boats, the report stated.
