Khrienuo Tachü, Chairperson, NSCW said that the diverse traditional cuisines is in need of urgent documentation, as also patenting their unique recipes. 


“Naga history and cultural practices flowed down from a strong oral tradition but with the changing times the oral structure is being demolished day by day, thereby, curbing traditional skill transmission to the millennial generation particularly,” she said. 


The Nagaland State Commission for Women Chairperson was inaugurating the “demonstration of Naga traditional cuisine and exhibition of Naga Food tools and equipments” on the second day of the National Seminar on Naga Traditional Cuisine at Japfü Christian College, Kigwema. 


Towards this, she said the seminar can also take forward Naga Traditional Cuisine into the Academia world and open ways and means to explore future avenues for its participation in the Act East Policy of the government of India. “It can also blend gender divides and make both men & women to take a complementary walk towards successful Naga Traditional Food ventures beyond the State and Country,” she further noted. 


Cuisines of 19 varieties were richly demonstrated followed by food fest today. Traditional tools were also displayed. Interaction among scholars and native experts was also held. Earlier, Dr. Visakhonu Hibo conveyed word of thanks.
