Traffic regulations in Dimapur, Kohima for President’s visit

Kohima, November 28 (MExN): The Kohima and Dimapur Police have made elaborate traffic arrangements in view of the President of India’s visit to Nagaland from November 30-December 1.  

President Ram Nath Kovind will arrive in Dimapur on Thursday and will inaugurate the 2017 edition of the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on Friday.   In this connection, the police have issued for new traffic regulations to be imposed in selected areas in Dimapur and Kohima. The regulation will remain in place till the departure of President.

In Kohima, ‘No Parking’ will be enforced along the road from 3rd Assam Rifles Helipad to Raj Bhavan, Kohima via LCS Building, TCP Gate, Classic Island and from Raj Bhavan to Kisama along NH-2, informed a press release from Vekhosa Chakhesang, NPS, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Kohima.  

“Only vehicles having Car Passes A, B & C will be allowed entry at Gate No- I/ Main Gate of Naga Heritage Complex, Kisama on December 1,” it said. X, Y & Z category passes will be applicable only from December 2-10.  

From Kisama, President Ram Nath Kovind along with his entourage will proceed to 3rd AR Helipad, during which all traffic will be temporarily restricted from 12:30 pm to allow safe and smooth passage, the release added. Meanwhile, entry of heavy vehicles to Kohima Town will be restricted from 9:00 pm on November 30 till the departure of the President.  

In a separate press release, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur informed that no stationary or broken down vehicles will be allowed to be parked along the route from Airport Junction till Chapru (Bamboo Haat, Piphema) during the President’s visit on November 30 and December 1.  

“Any vehicles found along the route causing traffic inconveniences and security risk will be towed away,” it warned. Dimapur Police will conduct motorcade rehearsal along the VVIP’s proposed route of travel from Dimapur (Airport junction) to Chapru (Bamboo Haat) on November 29, 3:00 pm onwards. Public have been requested to bear with the inconveniences during the period of motorcade rehearsal.
