A trailer truck transporting an electricity transformer to Kohima met with an accident in Dimapur on July 19. The accident occurred around 4:00-5:00pm adjacent to the Lungwiram-Thilixu junction almost bringing traffic to a standstill.

There was no casualty but the trailer carrying a 33-tonne transformer went off track before nudging an electric pole alongside the road. Electricity supply to parts of Thilixu, Mishikito and Toulazuma was disrupted as a result.

The cause of the accident was attributed to an oncoming car, which allegedly swerved way to close towards the trailer before transiting.

Fortunately for the trailer, it came to a stop after its side impacted the pole.
As per a Department official, the cargo was a 132/33kv 10mva transformer being towed by a private firm to be installed at the new distribution sub-station in Zhadima under Kohima Transmission Division.

The official informed that supply to the affected areas would resume as soon as trailer was towed away and the damaged pole replaced.
