Kohima, March 21 (MExN): ATMA Kohima, Botsa block conducted training on Banana Orchard Management at Seiyhama Phesa Village on March 16. ATM Hainenle Tep gave a brief introduction about the climate requirements of Banana and its cultivation practice.
She also spoke about the various aspects of Banana orchard management and intercultural operations like desuckering, deravelling, earthing up, propping, mattacking, bunch covering and also on management practices of pest and diseases in Banana. The programme was chaired by Agri Inspector Teisovilie.
Demonstration programmes were also conducted at Gariphema and Seiyha Phesa villages on March 10 and 16 with ATMs Botsa block, Medokhrielie, Neitsizo Zumvü and Hainenle Tep as the resource persons.
The resource persons gave demonstrations on cultivation practices of Cucurbits, Ginger, Potato, French Beans and Plant Protection measures of summer crops.
Method demonstrations were done on good seed bed preparation, optimum spacing, sowing time, weed management and applications of certain pesticides for plant protection. Altogether a total of 20 farmers attended both the programme.
