Trainees and organisers with resource persons during the two-day scientific training on stingless bees for honey production at Punglwa village on February 18

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): A two-day training on Scientific Beekeeping with Stingless Bees and Apis cerana for better honey production and pollination in Nagaland was conducted at Punglwa village in Peren district on February 17 and 18.
Altogether, 64 beekeepers from six nearby villages attended the intensive training which included practical demonstration by resource persons apart from discussion hours, stated a press release received here.
Specified topics on scientific Stingless beekeeping, basics on apiary establishment, scientific hives and maintenance, bee diseases & pests, importance of bees and insects on pollination, scientific honey harvesting, etc. were delineated by the resource speakers. The participants were also given scientific boxes for rearing stingless bees after the training.
The inaugural session was attended by Head GB of Punglwa village as special guest while Pastor, PCRC, pronounced the invocation. Dr Otto S Awomi, Lecturer, LBC Ayinato compered the inaugural event, Dr Avinash Chauhan, Principal Investigator & Training Coordinator, AICRP (HB&P), delivered the introductory speech and Ngukho, Bee Professional, AICRP (HB&P) delivered the vote of thanks.
