
Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): The Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland is conducting a three-day trainers training on production of quality planting material and accreditation of nursery of focus horticulture crops at the Institutes’ campus, starting October 11. The training is organized for horticulture officers of Nagaland.
Keeping in view the potential of horticulture crops in the region and the need for the availability of quality planting materials, the programme has been structured to provide insight on the various technical issues and solutions for production of quality planting materials and certification of horticultural nurseries, informed a press release from the CIH on Tuesday.
Additional Commissioner (Horticulture) & Director in-charge Dr NK Patle joined the inaugural programme via video conferencing where he delivered his introductory remark and interacted with the participants, it said.
Altogether 19 officers from all the districts of Nagaland are participating in the programme which will cover various aspects related to production technology and quality planting material production of kiwi fruit, dragon fruit, and citrus, pest and disease management with special reference to horticulture nurseries and guidelines for recognition and accreditation of horticulture nurseries, the release stated.
Experts are being invited from ICAR Nagaland Centre and School of Agriculture Sciences and Rural Development as resource persons to provide technical support during the training programme, it said.
