Training for taxi drivers held in Kohima

Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): A total of 32 taxi drivers completed a two-day capacity building training at the YouthNet Office, Kohima. The training was jointly conducted by YouthNet in partnership with All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) on November 24 and 25.

 

Speaking at the launch programme, YouthNet Director Nuneseno Chase stressed on the importance of training local taxi drivers who are the first point of contact and the face of Nagaland for tourists who visit the towns and villages. The taxi drivers have become the backbone of the tourism industry in particular as they represent the city or town they operate in, she said. 

According to a press release from the YouthNet Media Cell, ANTA Convenor Sobu acknowledged YouthNet and Nagaland Tourism Department for its support and assistance in training their drivers and giving them exposure to professionalism at work. He was accompanied by Neibalie, Member Action Committee, ANTA. 

The training programme was officially launched by Veyielo Duolo, Addl Director, Directorate of Tourism, Government of Nagaland. Appreciating YouthNet for introducing innovative programmes to empower the people and the youths of Nagaland, he encouraged YouthNet and ANTA to work closely together to organize more programmes not only in the State Capital but also in all other districts. He further motivated the taxi drivers to take the training seriously, stating that it would benefit them in the long run. 

The release stated that the training programme and professional education was imparted to create awareness on the need for excellent customer service, share best practices and habits that need to be incorporated to improve customer satisfaction, educate about industry standards, share anecdotes and tips to overcome common challenges faced by taxi drivers and to improve general knowledge about the State, the history, culture and its people. 

It was supported by the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland.
