
NYK leaders who attended the training held in Longleng from February 6 to 8.
Longleng, February 9: The youth leaders of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Longleng district were imparted training on youth leadership, personality development and life skills at EBRC Hall, Longleng as a part of youth capacity building from February 6 to 8, 2014. Participants numbering 40 were present for the programme.
John Makhabo, DYC, NYK Longleng in a press release stated that government has a noble vision of youth capacity building so as to prepare them to face any eventualities. Youth leadership and personality development training are undertaken to make the youth holistic leaders with good personality to face any interview for job. At the same time, life skills training focuses to help young people translate knowledge, develop appropriate attitudes, behaviour and inculcate values that would help them acquire the ability to reduce exposure to specific risk factors and augment protective factors, he added. Life skills training was conducted with special reference to coping skills on emotion and stress, and conflict resolution, which the release stated are immensely important for the youth.
The topics dealt during the training were Leadership, Personality development, What is Life Skills, Self-Awareness and Empathy building skills, Decision Making and Problem Solving skills, Creative Thinking and Critical Thinking skills, Effective Communication and Interpersonal Relationships skills coping with emotion and stress and confliction management skills.
The resource persons who animated the training programme were John Makhabo, DYC, NYK, Longleng and Sanenlong, ex-NYC, NYK, Mokokchung.
