Dignitaries at the state-level training programme on 11th Agriculture Census 2021-22 in Kohima on September 9.
Kohima, September 10 (MExN): A one day state-level training programme on 11th Agriculture Census 2021-22 for field officers and supervisors under Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare New Delhi took place at the conference Hall of Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima on September 9.
Addressing at the inaugural programme, M Ben Yanthan, Director of Agriculture, Nagaland, said the training on Agriculture Census 2021-22 will provides crucial information on the structural aspects of Indian Agriculture which continue to be the mainstay of Indian economy. Agriculture Census in India relies on the system of land records as prevalent in large part of the country.
He said that the 11th Agriculture Census 2021-22 is different from the previous Census as the GOI has taken a number of new initiatives to improve the data collection process. One such initiative is the use of latest technology in data collection, he added
Yanthan also said that the data collection process should be accurate and efficient as it will also enable to conduct of Agriculture Census on complete enumeration basis in all villages (100% coverage) covering both land record and non-land record of the States & UTs.
He said that another important change is the use of digitalized land records for agriculture census purpose and Manual on Instructions of Data Collection Schedule (Phase-I) will be provided to all the Field Officers and Supervisors for ready reference, better understanding and compilation of the census process.
He requested all the stakeholders to be sincere and make best use of the opportunity in order to upgrade technical capability on data collection accurately and successfully.
RN Soreithem, Deputy Director (AC) Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Krishi Bhavan New Delhi said that the Census have been conducting for the past 50 years since 1970-1971 and this is the first time to conduct Agriculture Census 100% complete enumeration in all the villages across the country.
Soreithem also said that Ministry has been insisting this for the long time but this time only it could able to take up to go for conduct of complete enumeration, after the state government agreed to the proposal for taking up the initiatives.
He insisted that data should be accurate and has to be completed on time.
Additional director Peter Yanthan also urged the staffs to take the exercise seriously.
