Training program for education stakeholders held across Nagaland

The Department of School Education organized a one-day block-level training and sensitization program for school heads, SMC/SMDC chairpersons and secretaries, as well as parent representatives under community mobilization.

KOHIMA, MARCH 19 (MExN): The Department of School Education has successfully organized a one-day block-level training and sensitization program for school heads, School Management Committee (SMC)/School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) chairpersons and secretaries, as well as parent representatives under community mobilization. The first phase of the program, which runs from March 17 to 21, has reached out to multiple districts across Nagaland.

The training covered 23 EBRC blocks across six districts: Phek, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Kohima, Mon, and Zunheboto. Officials from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha, and representatives from the Nagaland Education Project - The Lighthouse (NECTAR) were appointed to conduct the sessions.

In Zunheboto district, from March 17 to 19, the training and sensitization program was led by a team consisting of Chungngam Konyak, Deputy Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha; Thepfunyunyu Solo, JEO from the Directorate of School Education; and Rokosieno Yano, Kanoho, and Vitasta, all representatives of NECTAR. The team engaged 333 participants from various sectors of the education community across the four EBRC blocks.

The sessions focused on key areas of intervention and presented several significant education programs. Konyak discussed the NIPUN Bharat initiative, Kala Utsav, Library and Reading Corner projects, Inclusive Education, Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR), and the role of SMC/SMDC. He also highlighted the importance of community participation in education, as well as the impact of programs like Residential Hostels, PM-SHRI schemes, Vocational Education, and efforts to reduce Out of School Children (OoSC).

Meanwhile, Solo covered government programs such as PM-Poshan, ULLAS, Free Textbook and Uniform schemes, Science Fairs, Meritorious Scholarships, and Awards on behalf of the Department of School Education. Yano provided a comprehensive summary of NECTAR’s key initiatives and the grant disbursement under the Performance Incentives Grant.

The training and sensitization program is part of ongoing efforts to improve educational outcomes and foster a collaborative approach to tackling challenges within Nagaland’s educational landscape. The program emphasized the roles and responsibilities of school management committees, with a focus on ensuring active community involvement.
