Training programme conducted under MOVCDNER

Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): A two days training programme on ‘PoP of organic farming for FPOs/FPCs/Officers under Mission Organic Value chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER)’ was organised by the Department of Agriculture (DoA) Nagaland from the July 16 to 17 at State Agricultural Extension & Management Training Institute (SAMETI) training hall, Medziphema.


A press release issued by i/c Principal, IETC & Director, SAMETI stated that the inaugural was chaired by Dr Watimongla Jamir, i/c Principal, IETC & Director, SAMETI.


Renphamo Lotha, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, in his keynote address gave an overview of the MOVCDNER in Nagaland. He remarked that by practicing jhum cultivation, the farmers are encouraging organic farming in the state.


Resource person from MOVCDNER, New Delhi, Dr Ajay Singh Rajput, in his speech stated that NER has a good potential for organic farming and the region is climatically suited to produce a variety of organic crops. He also quoted that “those who have not seen NER, have not seen the world”.
Vote of thanks for the inaugural session was given by Dr James Kuba Chawang, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture.


Resource experts for the training programme were Dr Ajay Singh Rajput, Regional Director, Regional Centre of Organic Farming and Sanjay Kumar, Training & Capacity Building Coordinator, MOVCDNER, New Delhi; Dr Beremjungla, Lecturer & Officer incharge, Bio-Control Lab and Mhonchumo, AO, Bio-Fertilizer Lab.
